It was established in 2013 in district Chitrakoot with central assistance through the order no. 831-33/e-Plan-Bhawan (K.S.) dated 20/10/2009 of the Director of Technical Education, Uttar Pradesh. Order number of District Magistrate Chitrakoot sir No. Order No. 1896/Land Department- Through Reclamation/2009-10 dated 16 March 2010, 4.445 hectares of land was made available for the establishment of Government Polytechnic Bargarh. The main and workshop building of the institution was transferred on 13/02/2014 and the residence and hostel on 30/06/2015 by the construction unit. The lush green campus of the institute is spread over approximately 10 acres.
